More mathematical problems

Now for something a little tricky! There are 126 cookies in the jar.
The cookie monster comes along
and eats 49.
How many are left?
Remember to include how you work out the answer.

First we tookaway 26 away from the 49 and we had 23 left. 126 takeaway 26 is 100 and 100 takeaway 23 is 87 because 100 takeaway 20 is 80 and 80 takeaway 3 is 87.
We think it is 87 is it?

Gosh - Krisha and Leilani, you are so close but you need to check your answer. You have found an excellent way to work it out but there is one small mistake! Have another go!

I think it is 87 because I counted backwards in tens then took away nine. That's how i got the answer.

I don't no maybe one is that we did it together or may be it's the answer. I have no idea.

Am I right.

So it was 77 because we really did get mixedup in the last sentence. I think we added 7 to the 80 when we really should of been takingaway 3 from 80. I think we got mixedup really well. So thankyou for helping us understanding it. I think everyone who did this got mixed up too.

Well done Leilani and Krisha. I am so glad you persevered and didn't give up. Great thinking!

I think its 77 now, because maybe I took away 39. so counted backwards in tens and took away nine again. The other time maybe I got comfused the other time I was writing this.

I think it is 77 because 126 - 26 =100 and then I have 23 left to takeaway and 100 takeaway 23 = 77
